Sarah & Greg’s Wedding Picture Preview

Sarah & Greg wanted a non-traditional wedding that focused on family and fun. They decided to hold an intimate wedding ceremony for their family in her parents’ backyard. The backyard was beautiful, full of lots of greenery and flowers. And it was really special for them to have this last celebration here as Sarah’s parents had just sold the house and would soon be moving out.

The bride got ready at her parents’ home while the groom got dressed downtown at Hotel Monaco. It was a relaxing start to a beautiful day. And having only one bridesmaid- Sarah’s sister, and one groomsmen- Greg’s father, certainly helped keep things simple and easy. To match her modern and elegant wedding gown Sarah had a simple bouquet made of orange calla lilies by Nature’s Palette florist.
Both the bride’s father and mother walked her down the aisle, it got a little emotional for a minute.
A beautiful and emotional backyard wedding ceremony
The bride’s brother also played a very important role in the ceremony, he performed the ceremony as their officiant. He made sure to throw in a few personal jokes to keep the mood light and everyone laughing.
With the bride’s brother as the officiant there were lots of laughs and emotion.
Sarah & Greg’s dog was also a part of their ceremony. He had a pink bow tied around his neck and you could tell he was devoted to the couple because he was never far from their side…which also meant dirty paw prints on the bride’s dress, but I’m sure it was worth it to them to have their dog be there.
Their dog didn’t want to leave their side
After the ceremony they signed their marriage license and everyone celebrated with a glass of champagne. Then we captured some romantic photos of the bride and groom around the garden.
Their backyard made a perfect backdrop for pictures with all the gorgeous greenery
Before the ceremony I could barely get their dog to look my way for a picture, but when he had his two best friends by his side he had no problem posing for a picture. Since we had a little extra time we decided to try something fun and unique with one of the balloons from their wedding ceremony. I created this “flotation” picture below with some Photoshop magic. Its definitely not something I would normally do on a wedding day, but when there’s extra time for pictures I like to get creative and try something out the box.

The groom’s family shares a special moment
Soon it was time to head downtown for their wedding reception. On the way there we stopped in an alley I had discovered a few days beforehand for some fun urban wedding pictures among the colorful graffiti.

After a few quick pictures it was time to join the reception at Infinite Monkey Theorem. The Infinite Monkey Theorem is an urban winery located in the downtown Denver RINO district. It is one of the couple’s favorite spots to relax with a good glass of wine and it worked perfectly as a location for their non-traditional wedding.

The bride and groom had the winery all to themselves (and about 85 of their closest friends and family), so there was plenty of space for guests to mingle and dance. To really make things unique the bride and groom hired Cilantro Food Truck to serve fresh organic dinners to their guests. No boring buffet or place cards for this wedding! Below you can see the Cilantro Truck in the background. And on the fence to the left are Sarah & Greg’s initials which they made themselves out of moss.

This crowd really loved to dance, and drink. Combine the two and you have one very entertaining wedding reception, complete with some embarrassing toasts, a few falls, and lots of laughter.

This was the perfect fun and unique wedding to end my season with! Thank you so much Sarah & Greg for having me document this day for you.
