Ever take a look at yourself and wonder where your self-esteem went? There was a time when you didn’t nitpick your body. There was a time when you loved yourself. Miss J was experiencing just this. She booked a session with me to grab hold of that self-love that she was missing and her feedback tells me that we were successful!

Why did you want to do this photo shoot?
2019 was a bumpy year but also a “year of discovery” for me. I am a 42 year old mom of 3, whose kids are starting to leave the nest. I think, like so many women before me, I started realizing that for so long I was so busy with their lives that I kind of lost myself as an individual. Being a mom is the most important job of my life but I knew it was vital to find myself again.
So, I set out to try some new things. Yoga, meditation, girls trips, parasailing, etc. One thing that I had always wanted to do, but was frankly terrified to do, was a boudoir photo shoot. When the opportunity came up with Nicole, I knew that it was a sign and I had to go for it.
Why did you choose Nicole Nichols Photography for your photography?
I saw a post on Facebook about a “model call” opportunity to do a photo shoot with Nicole in exchange for her having the rights to use my photos for business marketing. I applied and was lucky enough to get chosen. I decided to do this photo shoot for nobody else but me. I wanted to do something for myself to help me feel empowered, strong, and beautiful.
What was your favorite part of the boudoir experience?
I think the best part was to visually see the change in my confidence. I purchased all of my digital photos, not only because I literally loved them all, but because I love to look at the progression of the photo shoot. You can literally see my fear and doubt in the first few shots and then by the end of the shoot, you can see the strength and confidence. It was extremely empowering. Nicole was amazing at bringing that out in me.
How did this make you feel following the session, did it help with your self-confidence and body image?
Years of emotional abuse had taken its toll on my self esteem so I knew going into this that it wasn’t going to be easy to step out of my comfort zone. My goal was to leave that photography studio feeling like the badass that, deep down, I knew I was. And that’s exactly what I did. I felt proud of myself for facing my fear and I also felt proud of the beautiful images that Nicole was able to capture.
What would you tell other ladies that are on the fence about doing a similar type of photo shoot?
I was so extremely nervous and honestly, for the entire week beforehand, I was thinking of reasons why I could cancel. I’m so glad that I didn’t because I would have regretted it! You will be so happy that you did this! Do it for you, do it to show yourself what a beautiful badass you are!
