You may recall Ashlie & Dan from their engagement session at the Cherry Creek Reservoir. As avid bike riders and outdoor adventurist, an engagement session in the park near their home was a perfect match for their engagement pictures…so of course a wedding at one of the most beautiful outdoor mountain venues in Colorado also fit them perfectly.

Ashlie & Dan celebrated their love with their friends and family with a wedding at YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. They first met while stationed in Iraq for the Air Force, turning what could have been a very unpleasant experience into one of the most memorable times of their lives. When they returned back to the states they moved to Colorado together where their love proved to be everlasting.

Ashlie & Dan decided to do a first sight before their ceremony. We set them up in a private location where they had a special moment to themselves to first see each other on their wedding day. A love and bond so strong that tears were shed as they both took it all in and realized what was about to happen. A day they had planned for months and dreamed of for years, was finally all coming together….but most importantly their lives from here on out would be forever joined in matrimony.

Since they chose to do a first sight we were able to get all of the wedding party pictures out of the way before the ceremony. Ashlie and Dan chose a ray of bright colors for their wedding and their groomsmen and bridesmaids sported them all. It is certainly unique and rare to have bridesmaids dresses of different colors, but for their mountain wedding the dashes of color were a beautiful compliment to their outdoor setting.

Their ceremony was held at a beautiful rustic outdoor site at the YMCA named the Mountainside Chapel. Clouds drew near but luckily the rain (and snow) stayed away for this beautiful wedding day.

Following the ceremony we had some extra time for pictures and took Ashlie and Dan for a walk among the Aspen trees to create these beautiful fine art images.

Lots of color, love, and unique details went into their wedding. Their favorite books, recycled mason jars, paper hearts handmade out of book pages, antique metal keys, colorful hand-dyed paper doilies, and many other details made their wedding decor uniquely them.

They also bottled and labeled their own wine, brewed their own beer, and instead of the traditional wedding cake had a tower of cupcakes topped with a miniature bride and groom wearing mountain climbing gear. And with the wedding being at an elevation of roughly 10,000 feet they even had an oxygen bar for their guests to keep their spirits high and their headaches away.

When it came time for the first dance the bride and groom chose a cute and very funny song from The Wedding Singer movie that made everyone smile. Their DJ, Affinity for Music, kept people dancing and singing along throughout the night.

And when it came time for the toast, the parents certainly knew how to make Ashlie and Dan smile. Often out of embarrassment, but also from happy memories as they reminisced about their first days in love.

When the sun began to set over the mountains I took Ashlie & Dan out for a few more pictures to capture the glow over the landscape during the golden hour.
