Michelle & Chris’ Romantic Wedding at the Historic Grant Humphrey’s Mansion in Downtown Denver
When I first met Chris & Michelle for their engagement pictures a year ago it was evident right away that they were meant for each other. The way they looked into each other’s eyes, finished each others’ thoughts, and even the way Michelle would push up Chris’ glasses when they would slide down his nose…which happens often when you’re about a foot taller then your lover and have to tilt your head down to look at her. And their wedding day was no different, except add in a unique contemporary lace white dress, a sophisticated tuxedo, oh and about 100 of your closest friends and family at a beautiful historic mansion.
Michelle & Chris have both been working extremely hard on finishing up school before their wedding day. It’s hard to plan a wedding when working on a PhD is taking up so much of your time. So they kept the details simple and with the help of their family and friends they pulled off a gorgeous, elegant, and fun wedding celebration that brought many smiles and tears of joy.
Michelle had a unique style all her own with vintage diamond jewelry and a unique cropped dress that showed off her sparkly high heels. And the groom pulled off casual yet classy in a sharp navy suit and silver tie. Both the dress and suit were found at Chiyo’s Bridal & Tux. Read through this post to share the surprises, fun, and romance of their wedding day at Grant Humphreys Mansion.

These two well-dressed lovebirds shared a special intimate moment together before they walked down the aisle in front of all their guests. Not only was it stress-reliever to do a first sight and see each other beforehand, but it allowed us to have more time for pictures and better lighting. I think they could have spent the rest of the day just embraced in each other’s arms, that is if they didn’t have a wedding to get to. 😉

love the bold colors of the wedding party of fucshia pink and navy
Since they chose to do a first sight we were able to get all of their wedding party & family pictures done before their wedding ceremony, which everyone loves to get out the way so they can get on to the party! I’m not typically a big a fan of pink, but I loved the bold color combination of fuchsia and navy blue that they chose for their wedding. The colors popped against the mansion and matched their elegant and fun style. I love documenting the excitement of the wedding party and family on the wedding day by capturing candid pictures of the family interacting.

bride reacts to hearing “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles
Michelle and Chris had a large ensemble of musicians perform for their wedding, including a string quartet, a few singers, and even some of their wedding guests whom surprised them and stood up and performed at the end of the ceremony. But the big surprise was when Michelle heard the musicians perform “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles. When they were kids the bride made her sister promise to play the song at her wedding, yet Michelle had forgotten about it herself till she heard it walking down the aisle with the love of her life.

I am a huge fan of weddings at Grant Humphreys Mansion, I love the historic architecture and the vintage style of the interior. However, a mansion built in the 1900’s and converted into a wedding venue is not always the easiest to maneuver as a wedding vendor. So I have to applaud A Music Plus for all the relocating they managed moving their equipment from one room to the next to provide music for the guests as they moved from the ceremony site, to cocktails on the patio, to toasts on the main floor, then dancing in the basement. While the wedding guests relocated from one area to the next, it gave us a little extra time to sneak in a few night portraits below. Also, Occasions Catering cooked a delicious dinner buffet that included a palisade peach salad that was so good I could have lived off it.

For some added entertainment for their wedding guests Michelle & Chris decided to do a photo booth. This is a fun add-on service we offer for wedding receptions. It allows us to capture more pictures of the guests and they love getting dressed up and having fun with all the props we bring.
