Dmitry & Taisiya- Wedding Picture Preview
Bride & Groom at Cheeseman Park in Denver, CO
Dmitry & Taisiya had a destination wedding, or more like an elopement, in Cancun, Mexico. They wanted a simple intimate wedding of their own, but still had a large celebration with their family & friends upon returning to Denver. When back in Colorado a couple weeks after their elopement it was time to celebrate their marriage with those closest to them. I first met up with the bride & groom and their families in Cheeseman Park for formal pictures. Taisiya looked stunning in her elegant yet simple one shoulder wedding dress with flawless makeup by Natasha Ramm of The Makeup Team.

Cheesman park is a great place for wedding pictures with its formal Romanesque white columns, green fields, and distant mountain views. Such a good spot, and such great weather, that we actually encountered 3 other professional photographers also taking pictures in the park.

After about an hour of pictures it was time to head to their wedding reception at the National, a Russian Restaurant that caters to private parties in central Denver. Dmitry & Taya’s families are both from Russia so the National was the perfect setting for their party complete with a Russian band, never-ending plates of traditional Russian food, and lots of vodka.

The band did a great job entertaining the guests not only with their music, but with fun and embarrassing games. The bride & groom’s friends thrived on the challenges of balancing on newspapers, showing off their best moves, or lifting up the couple in their seats for the Jewish Hora. Everyone had a blast either participating or just watching the hilarious entertainment that went on throughout the night.

Unlike traditional American weddings that start off the reception getting all the toasts out of the way, the Russian method is to spread out the toasts throughout the night. This allowed a break between speakers and also gave more people a chance to talk. Which depending on how many drinks they had by that point could be a good or bad thing. The grandmother’s toast below was particularly moving to the couple. Unfortunately being spoken all in Russian I couldn’t understand what she was saying, but the reactions and emotions it sparked spoke enough.

A cake lit up with flaming fireworks was definitely something I had never seen before, and was a surprise unexpected by the bride & groom as well. Dmitry & Taya also had a cake topper I had never seen before. You can see the miniature groom standing to the bottom front of the cake holding a sign, but you will have to play the slideshow below to see what it says.

The party went on late throughout the night, with an abundance of food, desserts, drinks, and dancing. It was a joyous celebration and I was honored to take part in it.
