Jenna & Norwood: Wedding Picture Preview

Jenna & Norwood are art-lovers and so the Denver Art Museum was a perfect unique wedding venue for their wedding day.  I first met them when I did their engagement pictures around the City Park art sculptures and St.Charles streetcars in New Orleans back in December 2011.  They moved to Denver the following year and I was delighted when Jenna called me up to photograph her wedding.

Jenna & Norwood decided to do a first sight before the ceremony to give us more time for pictures, and it was a good thing we did that since it rained after the ceremony and most of the night.  I wasn’t planning on creating an animation with their first sight pictures (above), so I did move while shooting throwing some of the perspectives off.  However, there were so many great images to choose from I decided it was still the best way to show the story of their first sight.

Jenna & Norwood’s wedding party came from all over to be a part of their wedding day.  Everyone had fun with pictures in this unique urban architectural neighborhood surrounding the Denver Art Museum.

After the art museum closed we were able to do a few pictures on the dramatic staircase designed by architect Daniel Libeskind.

Their ceremony took place outdoors along the side of the original art museum building.  Jenna’s aunt performed the ceremony which was a fun relaxed experience full of joy of laughter.

Jenna had selected a vintage chandelier and decor provided by T’Da Design to hang from the arbor they wed under.  The sky was getting intense, the wind was picking up and the rain was just moments away.  But thankfully the ceremony ended with just enough time to finish the family pictures just as it started to pour.

Jenna & Norwood had one of the most unique receptions I have ever seen.  After Robert Krueger Entertainment announced them in, the bride & groom rapped their wedding vows, and I must say they were really good at it! (play the slideshow below to see a picture of them rapping).

After a delicious dinner provided by Kevin Taylor Catering the bride & groom performed their first dance followed by entertaining dances with their parents.  Jenna & her dad started off with a slow dance then broke out into “Gangnam Style.”  And Norwood & his mother certainly had some funny dance moves of their own.

Jenna & Norwood’s cake, created by The Makery, was truly unique as it was filled with poetic words such as “love, hope, trust, and unity.”

After their cake cut the couple sat down and had all their guests gather around them as Robert Krueger Entertainment read aloud their “love story,”  a unique & entertaining segment created by the D.J.’s behind the scenes research.  Robert read the bride & groom’s responses to questions he had asked them in advance.  Neither of them knew ahead of time what the other’s responses would be, and there were lots of sections that involved other members of the wedding party & guests, so it was quite entertaining for all.

The rain cleared up enough to sneak outside for a few night portraits lit up by the dramatic lighting of the art museum.

Despite the rain it was a beautiful, artistic, and intimate wedding, that resulted in just what the couple wanted…..a wedding that defined their uniqueness from the favors to the flowers, where they could be themselves, and celebrate their love and commitment with those closest to them.  I was so glad to be a part of it, and to have the honor of capturing those priceless moments.   To see more wedding pictures from their day play the slideshow below.
