Colorado Photographer: Jaye & Stephen’s Wedding Picture Preview
Jaye & Stephen have a long history with The Highlands Ranch Mansion. They both grew up in the area and have visited the historic mansion when younger and now Jaye works there as the Sales & Services Coordinator. The mansion in a way has become a second home to them and for their wedding one of the most important things was they wanted their guests to feel at home in the mansion. The mansion is stunning. It’s huge, over 120 years old, and if the walls could talk I’m sure they would be full of stories. Yet with their fun laid-back personalities, Jaye & Stephen successfully managed to offer a comfortable relaxing environment for their friends and family.

I LOVE this gorgeous bridal suite. Jaye’s modern yet antique style fit the new but old mansion perfectly. Jaye was elegant and beautiful in her gorgeous dress and she added some of her own unique touches with cowboy boots, hand-tied bouquets, and boutonnieres made with beer bottle caps.

Jaye & Stephen chose to have their wedding ceremony on the front steps of the mansion. Guests stayed warm thanks to rented shawls & blankets by Spendor. And Stephen’s uncle kept the guests captivated with his heartfelt sermon.

After the ceremony the light was fading fast so we got through all the family and wedding party pictures as quick as we could, just in time to capture some of the last sunset colors with Jaye & Stephen’s romantic portraits.

We then went back inside to warm up and finish their portraits in some unique spaces. Since Jaye works at the venue we were able to get into some places that we would not have been able allowed in otherwise, such as this fun picture below in the office where Jaye works.

And I was so glad Jaye picked out this bold red bathroom for some unique portraits.
Their wedding reception was held in the brand new ballroom, in the same area that used to be part of the carriage house to hold the mansion’s horses about a hundred years ago. Jaye created a lot of the decor herself using twigs, wood pieces, and tiny pumpkins grown by one of her bridesmaids. Event Rents helped complete the design of the room with their dark brown draped curtains to frame the head table. When it was time for the wedding reception, the wedding party came out dancing “Gangham Style” by the South Korean pop artist PSY.

Rocky Mountain Catering provided a delicious BBQ buffet that is now making my stomach growl just thinking about those killer mashed potatoes. When it was time for toast the emotion poured out and got everyone laughing or crying. Then there was a big surprise for the couple when Stephen’s sister showed a homemade video that started with some pictures of the couple then shocked everyone with hilarious karaoke style renditions of “Call Me Maybe” by Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen. Digital DJ Colorado kept the dance floor shaking all night, and everyone was having so much fun that Jaye & Stephen decided to extend their reception to keep the party going later.

At the end of the night I snuck Jaye & Stephen away from the crowd for a few more romantic portraits around the Mansion. I always try to make time for a few end of the night pictures with the bride and groom. It gives them a chance to take a break from their party and snuggle up for a few more relaxed pictures.
