Danielle & Greg had a fun, colorful, Mardi Gras themed wedding in New Orleans. This fun loving couple did it right with a balcony bead toss & second line parade.  Peacock feathers &  bright blue dresses.  Live music & lots of dancing. Last year I photographed their engagement pictures at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans…which was a perfect beginning to their carnival themed wedding.

The wedding party got ready at the Hampstead Suites in New Orleans.  With 9 bridesmaids, moms, hair and makeup artist, photographer, and of course the bride, it can be tough to find a place large enough for everyone.  But thankfully this suite was the perfect size, and just a short drive to the ceremony.  Hair & makeup artist masters from Salon Tereska did an amazing job getting everyone looking their best on time for the big day.  Below Danielle’s bridesmaids help her decide which earrings to wear and make sure her sash is tied just right.

Greg and his groomsmen were cool & collected as they waited for the start of the big day.  Below the guys strut their stuff down Convention Center Blvd. in New Orleans.

With little time to spare it was time to head to St.Mary’s Assumption Church for the wedding ceremony. St.Mary’s is a beautiful old church in the heart of New Orleans.  When I went outside to get this shot below it had started to rain and the humidity was in high gear, so it was a challenge e protecting my camera & lens from the moisture.  But it was definitely worth it and the rain helped add drama to the lighting.  I also love the unique urban touch of the “love the?” graffiti that happens to be written on the dumpster across the street from the church.

There was a lot of emotion taking place during the ceremony, and I especially love the joy seen on Danielle’s father’s face as he gives her away at the altar.

Once the wedding ceremony ended the goal was to get through the formal pictures as fast as possible so everyone could get to the party.  In only 15 minutes we made it through all the family and formal pictures and with a police escort helping lead the way everyone took off to Rosy’s Jazz Hall for the wedding reception.  Below the bride & groom steal a kiss on the upstairs balcony at Rosy’s.

Rosy’s Jazz Hall is a great place to get married!  The staff is extremely helpful, the food is delicious & plentiful, and it has that vintage New Orleans decor that everyone loves. And of course being a live music venue, it has the perfect set-up for a large band, a dance floor, as well as plenty of space to mingle and relax. I was even really close to having my own wedding here five years ago, so I’m always glad for a chance to come to weddings at Rosy’s Jazz Hall.

Above- Daniele & Greg chose Otis Redding – “These Arms of Mine” for their first dance song, performed by their rocking band The Boogie Men Below- It took Greg a while, but he finally found the garter!

Of course their wedding couldn’t be complete without a second line parade throughout Rosy’s.  Danielle & Greg had parasols custom made for their wedding.  They also threw custom made Mardi Gras cups & beads off the balcony later in the night.
