Halloween- the costumes, the playfulness, the parties, kind of reminds me of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Which reminded today to post these pictures from an engagement session I did in the French Quarter of New Orleans & at Mardi Gras World. Thanks to an “inside connection” Danielle, the bride to be, was able to get access to Mardi Gras World after-hours for a fun private photo shoot. This huge warehouse in New Orleans is where many of the elaborate handmade floats of carnival are created. Danielle is a big fan of Mardi Gras and was all about taking pictures amongst the colorful floats of carnival. Their were so many silly caricatures, Greek gods, and symbols of New Orleans surrounding us, it made it difficult to select what to photograph- there were soo many choices! But how often do you get to climb to the top of the Bacchus float and sit in the same seat that Will Farrell got to enjoy during his reign as 2012 Mardi Gras Bacchus king? Or hang out with some colorful cartoon characters or stare right into Drew Brees’ eyes?
Mardi Gras World in New Orleans
Mardi Gras World is situated on the Mississippi River, so the back deck also made for some great shots of the Greater N.O. Bridge and the river….with some beautiful masks of course. After taking lots of pictures at Mardi Gras World we headed to the French Quarter. We first took pictures in Jackson Square around the St.Louis Cathedral…but had to shoot quick and sneak out as unfortunately photographers are no longer allowed to take pictures inside the park gates without paying a generous fee.

Danielle & Greg first met one random night in front of the Gold Mine Saloon so we had to go back to that exact street corner downtown on St.Peter & Dauphine to reminisce. If you don’t know Danielle & Greg’s story of how they met that night, you have to ask them…its hilarious…and a little too long for me to try to explain here.
